The Cardinals finished fourth at the NCAA National Tournament in 1983, qualifying by virtue of winning the Central Regional. It was North Central's highest finish at an NCAA National Tournament in the program's history.
At Nationals the Cardinals finished 1-2, recorded a 5-4 win over Ithaca (N.Y.) in the opener before falling to both Trenton State College (Now The College of New Jersey) and Buena Vista University (Iowa).
