The Sal Vaccaro Tournament has been contested 27 times since 1987 with North Central College claiming the championship 13 times, most recently in 2013. The Tournament was originally known as the North Central College Invitational until 1992 when it was renamed in honor of the former assistant coach.

xxxxxxxxx Sal Vaccaro was an assistant coach for the men's soccer program for five years at North Central. A plaque honoring him hangs in Merner Field House.xxxx To a man who loved the game and sincerely cared for those that played it.
His spirit will remain always in the soccer program at NCC.
We can still hear his voice echoing,
"Come on guys, play soccer, will you!"
