Amani Jones won the sixth individual national championship in the history of the North Central College women's wrestling program Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Coaches (NCWWC) Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jones opened her day by meeting Montana Delawder of King University on the mat in the 123 class. After a hard-fought battle, Jones got the edge on Delawader and was able to pin her (5:26). Jones faced off against Virginia Foard of King University in the championship round. Jones was up 3-1 with the clock ticking down and was able to hold Foard off from earning any more points. Jone is the 123-pound national champion and an All-American for the third time in her career.
In the 124-weight class, top-ranked Jones sent herself to her second consecutive NCWWC finals by defeating fifth-ranked Aspen Blasko from Grand Valley State University in the semifinals. Jones took on third-ranked Shelby Moore (McKendree University) in the finals. Jones held her head high, kept her pace, and wrestled her shots in the finals. Jones shut down Moore with a 5-0 decision. Jones is a back-to-back national champion and has earned All-American honors every season of her career.
