Cory Stevens '00 joined the Cardinal baseball staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2017 season.
Stevens comes to North Central after spending the last 10 seasons as the head coach of the Wabash College (Ind.) baseball program. He is second on the program’s all-time wins list, a program that was established in 1866.
The Little Giants won the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) West Division in 2009, the first appearance in the NCAC Tournament in program history. The Little Giants returned to the conference tournament in 2010 before winning it in 2011 for the program’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament. Wabash defeated Christopher Newport University, ranked No. 1 at the time, in the NCAA Tournament regional round that year and were eliminated in the semifinal of the South Region.
At Wabash, Stevens coached a D3Baseball.com All-American, six ABCA/D3Baseball.com All-Mideast Region selections, three NCAC Players of the Year, 49 All-NCAC Team honorees, eight NCAC All-Tournament team members, a NCAC Tournament MVP and a NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team selection.
In a decade under Stevens, Wabash also saw the building of Goodrich Ballpark with the first season played there in 2011.
Stevens also served as the NCAC Baseball Chairman from 2007-2016 and was the NCAA Mid-East Regional site director in 2013. He also was the NCAC’s representative on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee from 2011-13.
Prior to his head coaching duties, Stevens served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for three seasons at Wabash starting in 2003 before taking over head coaching duties in June 2006. Stevens came to Wabash after two years at Mona Shores High School in Michigan where he was a social studies teacher and head baseball coach.
Stevens played four seasons at North Central under head coach Ed Mathey ’86 and currently serves as the Associate Director of Development/Major Gift Officer in the Development and Alumni Engagement Office at North Central. He and his wife Megan reside in Oswego, Ill. with their four daughters Isla, Coraline, Stella and Bennett.
