Dale Koepnick ’82 joined the NCC coaching staff for the 2020 indoor track season as a volunteer coach. Dale had the great honor of coaching alongside Hall of Fame Coaches Al Carius and Frank Gramarosso until their mutual retirement following the 2022 outdoor track season. Prior to the start of the 2022 season, Dale was named an assistant coach for cross country.

While at NCC, Dale was privileged to be a member of the ‘78 and ‘79 NCAA Cross Country Championship Teams and captain of the ‘81 NCAA Cross Country Championship Team. In track & field, Dale was member of the ‘80 3rd place NCAA Outdoor Track Team and co-captain of the ‘82 team. Dale’s most gratifying and memorable aspect of being a member of these teams were the deep, lifelong bonds which developed while working together to achieve collective and individual excellence.

While at NCC, Dale earned a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and physics. He later received an MBA from Northern Illinois University and his Illinois Teacher Certification from Benedictine University.

Dale retired from Coal City High School in 2019 where he taught mathematics and CTE plus served as the girls and boys head track coach. He started his teaching career at Westmont High School where he was an assistant coach for the girls and boys track teams. Prior to his career in education, Dale was a partner of a successful startup medical oxygen supply and equipment repair company where he developed a nationwide customer base.

Dale and his wife Betsy reside in Naperville. In the off season, you will often find Dale and Betsy in Lakeland, Florida visiting their son Reid.
