    Assistant Men's Track & Field Coach - Horizontal Jumps
Nevin Govan joined the North College coaching staff in September 2024 as the men’s horizontal jumps coach for the Cardinals' track & field program. He returned to the sidelines after a coaching hiatus, having previously served as assistant jumps coach at the College of DuPage from 2004–2011.

During his tenure at COD, Govan was part of a dynamic staff that guided the men’s track & field team to two NJCAA National Championships (2006, 2010). At the 2010 NJCAA Championships, he was honored as Assistant Coach of the Year. Over the course of his career, he has coached one Olympian, six national champions, 15 All-Americans, and more than 25 national qualifiers.

As an athlete, Govan competed in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump at both Eastern Illinois University and the College of DuPage. At EIU, he set the indoor long jump record in 1991 with a leap of 7.70m – a mark that still stands today (2025). His 7.89m long jump at COD also remains the school record.

A Wheaton, Ill. native, Govan graduated from Wheaton Central High School before earning his B.A. in Economics from Eastern Illinois University. He currently resides in North Aurora with his wife, Michelle.
