Steve Wiesbrook ’82 joined the North Central coaching staff in the fall of 2019 as the men’s assistant coach for hurdles and began coaching the women’s hurdles in 2022.

Prior to returning to his alma mater, Wiesbrook taught chemistry and physics at Naperville Central High School for 34 years. During his tenure, he served as head coach of the boys’ track and field program for 16 years, overseeing the sprints and hurdles. Before assuming the head coaching role, he spent 18 years as an assistant coach for both the boys’ and girls’ programs, coaching hurdles and high jump. Throughout his career at Naperville Central, Wiesbrook coached numerous all-conference and all-state athletes and relay teams.

Since joining North Central, Wiesbrook has coached multiple national qualifiers and All-Americans in the hurdle events for both men and women.

Wiesbrook graduated from North Central College in 1982 with degrees in chemistry and mathematics. As a student-athlete, he competed in the 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, and the 4x400-meter relay. He earned his master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois in 1994.
