Jackie Errico has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Basketball Player of Week after finishing the week with a pair of double-doubles.
Errico finished the week averaging 27.5 points and 12.5 rebounds during the week for the Cardinals. The senior forward scored a game-high 26 points at home on Tuesday against Elmhurst, shooting nine-for-19 from the floor and hitting seven-of-eight free throw attempts while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds. Against Wheaton on Saturday, Errico poured on a career-high 29 points to lead all scorers while grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds. The forward ended the afternoon 11-for-19 from the field, sinking four three-pointers and finishing a perfect three-for-three from the charity stripe.
Errico finished the week shooting 52.6 percent (20-for-38) from the floor and 90.9 percent (10-for-11) from the charity stripe while dishing out two assists and grabbing 10 offensive rebounds.
The senior currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.6 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game. Errico has additionally tallied four double doubles while leading the team in scoring in 10 of the team's 19 games this season.
The award marks the second time in her career Errico has been named CCIW Player of the Week, also earning the honor on
Nov. 23, 2009. Errico is also the second Cardinal to earn the honor during the 2010-2011 season as
Jenny Swanson claimed the award on
Dec. 6, 2010.
The Cardinals (6-13, 2-6 CCIW) return to the hardwood on Tuesday, Feb. 1, hosting nationally-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.
