Oct. 1, 2008 – Augustana College scored three unanswered goals en route to a, 4-1, victory over the North Central College women's soccer team, Wednesday afternoon in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Laura Petersen (Jr., Herscher, Ill./Herscher) netted her first goal of the season for the Cardinals, netting the team's lone goal.

Augustana got on the board early, with a Lauren Polock goal in just the seventh minute. North Central would respond nine minutes later with a Petersen equalizer, chipping the ball over the goalies head. Petersen's goal was the team's first shot of the game. A North Central handball in the box in the 29th minute set up an Augustana penalty kick, resulting in the team's second goal. Katie Oakes converted on the penalty kick on what proved to be the decisive goal. The Vikings went into halftime with a 2-1 lead, holding a 13-3 advantage on shots taken.

The Vikings offense would tally two more goals in the second half, with Caitlin Winkelman scoring in the 67th minute while Ashley Higuchi scored the games final goal in the 81st minute.

Amy Frazzini (Fr., Orland Park, Ill./Sanburg) made her second start in goal for the Cardinals, recording seven saves in 90 minutes of work. Augustana's Kayla Radloff played the first 45 minutes while Emily Voigt came in relief at halftime, clocking in the final 45. Radloff allowed one goal and recorded no saves while Voight stopped two balls.

With the loss, North Central drops back to .500 overall at 4-4-3 and remain winless in CCIW action at 0-2 while Augustana moves to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. North Central returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 7, traveling to Watertown, Wis. for a non-conference showdown with Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
