Women's Soccer Tops Carthage, 2-1

KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 17, 2009) -- The North Central College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three, posting a 2-1 victory over Carthage College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at Art Keller Field.

The Cardinals struck early as Shannon Finucane scored unassisted in the sixth minute after collecting the ball off a rebound. Carthage's Sarah Scardamaglia equalized the score in the 17th minute before Brittany Jones netted what proved to be the game-winner in the 37th minute off a free kick. 

Elise Manzie stopped four shots on the afternoon in the winning effort while Angela Spinelli and Christina Chervenak each took a half in goal for the Lady Reds.

The win was the Cardinals third straight, improving to 9-5 overall and 2-3 in CCIW play while Carthage stumbles to 5-9 and 0-5 in conference action. North Central continues its road trip on Wednesday, October 21, taking on Wheaton College at 7 p.m.
