North Central College will be represented by three football players and two coaches at the 2009 Tazon de Estrellas All-Star Game on Saturday, Dec. 19 in Monterrey, Mexico.

Quarterback Aaron Fanthorpe, offensive tackle Josh Delancy and defensive end Tim Janecek will each participate for Team Stars & Stripes in the game. North Central assistant coach Brad Spencer will coach the team's wide receivers, while assistant coach Rick Ponx will coach Team Stars & Stripes' running backs.

The team's roster currently consists of 51 players from 35 NCAA Division III institutions. Additional players may be added after the Division III quarterfinals on Dec. 5. The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin is also represented by three players from Augustana College.

Team Stars & Stripes will take on the Tec Monterrey All-Stars on Dec. 19 at the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estadio de Mexico. Tec Monterrey is the largest private university system in Mexico, with campuses in numerous locations throughout the country. Team Stars & Stripes will practice at the Tec Monterrey facility in Atizapan de Zaragoza, near Mexico City, from Dec. 14-18 and will also visit the Aztec Pyramids and the nation's capital in the days leading up to the game.

Fanthorpe, who has been named the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Year for the third straight season, completed 142 of 208 passes this season, setting a new North Central single-season record for completion percentage (.683), and threw for 2,096 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also ran for 330 yards and seven touchdowns. He established a single-game school record for completion percentage (.875) in a 69-18 victory over Olivet College (Mich.) on Sept. 26 and set another school record with six touchdown passes in a 58-0 win at Millikin University on Oct. 3. He was a three-time CCIW Offensive Player of the Week selection this season. Fanthorpe will also participate in the D3 Senior Classic in Salem, Va., on Dec. 5.

Delancy, a First Team All-CCIW selection for the third straight year, paved the way for an offense which ranked first among all divisions of the NCAA in scoring (49.0 ppg) and sixth in Division III in total offense (487.9 ypg). Janecek, who was named to the All-CCIW Second Team this season, finished the year with 37 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, and five pass breakups.
