BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Feb. 7, 2009) - Tyler Hsieh (Fr., Naperville, Ill./Central) won the 100 yard freestyle as the North Central College men's swimming team competed against Illinois Wesleyan University and Wheaton College in a double dual at Fort Natatorium.
Hsieh clocked a 50.87 in the 100y free in the event win, with teammate
Tim Patula (Fr., Burbank, Ill./Reavis) finishing fourth in 54.96. In the 100y breaststroke, Hsieh swam a 1:03.72, finishing third while posting a 2:28.41 in the 200y breaststroke to place fifth. Patula and
Quincy Simon (So., Chattanooga, Tenn./McCallie) finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth places in the 200y freestyle, swimming times of 2:01.54 and 2:07.72.
Patula clocked a 25.18 in the 50y freestyle, placing fifth while Simon finished the 100y butterfly in 1:01.87, also finishing fifth. In the relays, the Cardinals finished fourth in the 200 free relay, clocking a 1:41.44.
The Cardinals return to the pool on Thursday, February 12, hosting their lone home meet of the season, a dual against Wheaton College. Races are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the North Central Pool inside Merner Field House.
