finished sixth in the 55 meter hurdles as the North Central College women's track and field team concluded the 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships with four All-Americans and one national champion while placing sixth as a team at the meet held at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Sports and Recreation Center.
Jackson entered the finals with the sixth fastest time coming out of Friday's qualifying heats after clocking an 8.27 in the preliminaries. The sophomore ran the exact same time in Saturday's final, finishing sixth to earn All-American honors in the event for the second straight season. Jackson placed seventh in 2008 after running an 8.37 in the final round.
The Cardinals concluded day one with three All-Americans and one national champion, with
Rachel Secrest taking the pole vault crown with a vault of 12'8”. Joining Secrest as All-Americans were
Carolyn Kalafut, who tied for seventh in the pole vault and
Michelle Criscione, who tied for fifth in the high jump.
Wartburg College (Iowa) blew away the field, scoring 51 points to win the National Championship. UW-La Crosse finished second with 41.5 points while UW-Oshkosh (33) and Illinois Wesleyan University (28) rounding out the top four. North Central received scoring across three events, scoring 18 points to place sixth overall.
The Cardinals take the next two weeks off before returning to action on April 4, hosting the First Chance Invitational at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium to kick off the outdoor season.
