North Central College baseball players Mike Kloss and Michael Corrigan have been honored with selections to the 2009 All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Second Team, as selected by the CCIW's coaches. The All-CCIW Teams were released on Monday.

Both players were first time All-CCIW selections for the Cardinals, who finished sixth in the CCIW this season with a league record of 7-13-1.

Kloss, one of four pitchers named to the Second Team, finished the season with a 4-3 record and 5.92 earned-run average, along with 57 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings. He led the Cardinals in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, and complete games (2) this season, moving into the North Central career top 10 in strikeouts (140) and games started (25). Kloss went 3-1 in conference play, including nine shutout innings at CCIW Champion Carthage College (Wis.) on Apr. 28 and a 17-strikeout performance in a win over Elmhurst College (Ill.) on Apr. 9.

Corrigan, meanwhile, was the Second Team selection at catcher. He batted .338 this season, leading the team in runs scored (34) and runs batted in (34) and tying for the team lead in home runs (5). He recorded multiple hits in 14 games, multiple RBI in 10 contests, and shared the team lead in batting average (.347) in CCIW games.

Carthage's Trace Ruffie was named the CCIW Pitcher of the Year, while teammate Mike Hughes shared the league's Player of the Year Award with Zach Hofer of Elmhurst.
