Oct. 30, 2010-- The North Central College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four games on Saturday, closing out the season by defeating North Park University, 2-1, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

Rachael Houp got the Cardinals on the board 90 seconds before halftime, scoring on a breakaway after receiving a pass from
April Kutchinski. North Park's Stephanie Fisher equalized the score in the 58th minute, sneaking one past the keeper on a scramble in front of the goal off a free kick.
North Central responded in the 79th minute with
Hope Stayer scoring the game-winner, blasting a shot from just inside the box that went through the legs of the Viking goalkeeper. It was the freshman's team-leading ninth goal of the season and the first game-winner of her career.
Amy Frazzini logged all 90 minutes in goal for the Cardinals, making six saves while her counterpart, Ashley Jacobson, made five saves.
Saturday's game was senior day as
Nora Wessels was honored before the game, making her 68th and final appearance in a Cardinal uniform.
With the win, North Central finishes the 2010 season with a 7-8-2 overall record and a 1-4-2 mark in conference action, ending the season with a four game unbeaten streak. North Park falls to 5-13-1 and 2-5 in CCIW play.
