CCIW Release

Feb. 16, 2010-- North Central College's Brandye Jackson has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 55-meter hurdles at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships.

Jackson sprinted to the victory in the hurdles, edging-out a field that included competitors from all three NCAA divisions after crossing the finish line in a provisional qualifying time of 8.36. Her performance is currently the fifth fastest time in Division III this season.

The senior hurdler becomes the third Cardinal this season to claim Athlete of the Week honors. Pole vaulter Rachel Secrest was honored as Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 9 while high jumper Michelle Criscione captured Field Athlete of the Week accolades on Jan. 26.

North Central captured the team title at the Chicagoland Championships hosted by Lewis University on Friday, scoring 141 points to outdistancing runner-up University of Chicago by a 22 1/2 point margin.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Feb. 20, hosting the Cardinal Classic at the Al B. Carius Track in the team's final tune-up before the CCIW Championships.
