Feb. 23, 2010-- North Central College's
Annie Adamson and
Lauren Brightmore were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at Saturday's Cardinal Classic.
Adamson was honored as the Field Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump with a provisional qualifying leap of 37 feet 6 inches. Her jump set a new school and facility record in the event and is currently the sixth best mark this season in Division III.
Brightmore was selected as the Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 200-meter dash in a season-best and facility record time of 25.88. The junior additionally ran the 400-meter leg of the distance medley relay, finishing second in season-best time of 12:23.67.
Cardinal athletes have now claimed CCIW accolades five times this season.
Brandye Jackson claimed Track Athlete of the Week accolades on Feb. 16 while Rachel Serest (Feb. 9) and
Michelle Criscione (Jan. 26) were both previously honored as Field Athletes of the Week.
North Central outdistanced runner-up Washington University in Saint Louis by an 89-point margin in the team standings at Saturday's nine-team Cardinal Classic, remaining undefeated at the Al B. Carius Track.
The Cardinals host the two-day CCIW Championships this weekend, with events beginning on Friday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
