Cardinals Clipped in Spring Break Opener

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Mar. 23, 2010) -
The North Central College women's lacrosse team opened its inaugural Southern swing on Monday at Sewanee University, taking an early lead before losing by a 20-5 count at Puett Field.

The Cardinals got on the board first, as Nora Wessels scored on an assist from #Jessica Segman with 27:05 left in the first period. Sewanee (6-1), however, scored the next eight goals to take a commanding lead.

Amy Frazzini scored on a free position shot and Caroline Gully found the net off a pass from Natalie Vivacqua before the first half ended, but North Central trailed, 15-3, at the break. Gully and Frazzini each added unassisted goals after halftime.

North Central (0-2) travels to Birmingham, Ala., to play Birmingham-Southern College (5-2) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
