NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Apr. 22, 2026) - For its final game on home turf this season, the North Central College women's lacrosse team hosted Carroll University in a Wednesday night College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin matchup at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, dropping a 22-2 decision.
To open the game, CC Rovik secured the Cardinals' first ground ball, followed by Rachel Lawrence and Alaina Clark. Carroll responded with a six-goal run over a five-minute span. North Central added two more ground balls from Samantha Alis and Clark before the Pioneers scored once more to close the first quarter.
Carroll struck quickly to begin the second, scoring twice within 31 seconds to take a 9-0 lead. Lawrence recorded North Central's first shot, but it was saved by the Pioneer goalkeeper. Carroll added four more goals to enter halftime ahead 13-0.
In the third quarter, Lawrence fired another shot at the 12-minute mark that was again turned away. Creating a disruptive presence in the scoring area, Madeleine Diamond drew a foul and earned a free-position attempt, converting into the right side of the net to put the Cardinals on the board.
Carroll answered quickly with a goal to make it 14-1. North Central responded with Anaise Kaufman positioned at the top of the 12-meter, found Samantha Devens cutting to the net for a goal, cutting the deficit to 14-2. The Pioneers closed the quarter with three straight goals.
In the final period, Carroll maintained its momentum, scoring three more times to extend the lead to 20-2. Kaufman and Leah Frystak broke up multiple Pioneer possessions, causing two turnovers. Camille Krekeler and Frystak each collected ground balls for North Central. Carroll added two late goals to seal the 22-2 victory in Naperville, Illinois.
Devens scored her first goal of the season, while Diamond added her second. Clark, Frystak, Lawrence and Devens each recorded two ground balls. Frystak caused three turnovers, and Alis controlled four draws. Rovik and Oran Wilkins combined for five saves between the pipes.
The Cardinals recorded 11 ground balls, forced seven Pioneer turnovers and went 10-for-14 on clears.
North Central concludes its regular-season CCIW schedule on the road, traveling to Rock Island, Illinois, to face Augustana College at noon.
