BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Mar. 24, 2010) -
A 6-0 first-half deficit was enough to keep the North Central College women's lacrosse team playing catch-up throughout Wednesday evening's game at Birmingham-Southern College, as the host Panthers came away with a 16-7 victory.

The Cardinals' first goal came with 17:09 left in the first half, when Natalie Vivacqua found Caroline Gully for a score. By that time, however, Birmingham-Southern had already seized control of the contest after scoring five times in the first eight minutes.

Gully's score was followed by goals from Vivacqua and Amy Frazzini, who both converted free-position attempts. The Panthers (6-2) countered with three goals of their own before the period ended and carried a 9-3 edge into halftime.

BSC enjoyed another 6-0 surge in the second half, keeping the Cardinals (0-2) off the board until Jessica Seggman's goal with 7:32 to play. Gully scored two more goals and Frazzini tacked on another just before the final buzzer sounded.

Frazzini and Vivacqua shared the team lead in ground-ball pickups (4). Shannon Prince, filling in at goalkeeper, made five saves.

The Cardinals wrap up their Spring Break schedule Thursday evening in Birmingham, taking on the University of Dallas at 7 p.m.
