OBERLIN, Ohio (Apr. 24, 2010) - The North Central College women's lacrosse team was beaten in its inaugural trip to Ohio on Saturday, coming out on the short end of a 16-12 decision against Allegheny College (Pa.) on the campus of Oberlin College.
The Cardinals trailed, 2-0, after the first four minutes of play before getting their initial goal from
Jacqui Morgan with 25:38 left on the first-half clock. North Central was still in striking distance late in the first half, trailing 6-4, when the Gators went on a 6-0 run that lasted into the early going of the second half and took a commanding 12-4 advantage.
The Cardinals (3-9) scored four times in a six-minute stretch to eat into the deficit, but Allegheny followed with a trio of goals to maintain some breathing room. The Cardinals scored three goals in the final six minutes to threaten the Gators, but were held scoreless for the final 3:51.
Morgan was North Central's top scorer with four goals, while
Amy Frazzini scored three times and
Danielle Fiala finished with two goals.
Elise Manzie saved six shots on goal.
