CCIW Press Release
Oct. 10, 2011 - North Central College junior football player
Tyler Rasche has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 8.
Rasche, in his first season as the Cardinals' starting punter, was selected on the merits of his performance in North Central's
24-3 victory over Augustana College on Saturday. He punted five times for a 42.2-yard average and allowed the Vikings to gain just five yards on two punt returns to keep the visitors from obtaining advantageous field position.
Rasche is the fourth Cardinal to receive Player of the Week honors from the CCIW this season. Defensive ends
Valente Garza and
Willie Hayes have both received Defensive Player of the Week awards, while defensive back/kick returner
Caleb Bednarz has also been cited as a Special Teams Player of the Week.
North Central (4-1, 2-0 CCIW) plays the first of two straight road games on Saturday, traveling to face Millikin University (3-2, 1-1 CCIW). Kickoff at Frank M. Lindsay Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
