Oct. 8, 2011-- After taking a 1-0 halftime lead, the North Central College women's soccer team surrendered two second half goals to fall to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Illinois Wesleyan University 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Opening up the scoring,
Katrina McNeela found the back of the twine scoring on a header off a
Victoria Dunn corner kick in the 29th minute. Despite being outshot by a margin of 9-2 in the first half, the Cardinals (5-5) managed to take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Titans (8-2) would counter just six minutes into the second half as Emily Hinchman snuck one past Cardinal Goalkeeper
Amy Frazzini on a feed from Julie Govedarcia. Two minutes later the Titans would tack on what would be the game winning goal as Molly O'Brien chipped home her CCIW leading 9th goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Renata Butikas obtained her second win of the season saving one shot for the Titans while
Amy Frazzini evens her record to 5-5 on the season saving 11 shots on the afternoon.
The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 as they take on Elmhurt College at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium with kickoff slated for 5 p.m.
