WHEATON, Ill. (Nov. 15, 2011) - Securing victories in the first seven matches of the evening, the North Central College wrestling team cruised to its first dual-meet win of the season on Tuesday, defeating College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin rival Wheaton College, 35-15, at King Arena.
The 11th-ranked Cardinals got a pair of victories by pin, as
Nathan Fitzenreider pinned Caleb Cardenas in 2:53 at 133 pounds and
Jason Bonham stuck Matt McCrary in 1:14 at 174. Fitzenreider, the top-rated 133-pounder in the most recent NCAA Division III individual rankings, is now 5-1 with all five of his victories coming by pin thus far in the early part of the season.
North Central's
Sean Tomac won by major decision, 16-5, over Tom Foy at 125, while
Joby Bodi beat Luke Sims by major decision, 12-4, at 165.
Andrew Zobac won a 8-3 decision over Mark Savenok at 149 and
Brian Dyer (141) and
Eric Oyster (157) each received forfeits.
The Cardinals travel to the Olivet College (Mich.) Duals on Saturday.
