Wrestlers Post 3-1 Finish at Olivet Duals

OLIVET, Mich. (Nov. 19, 2011) -
Continuing to dominate in the lower weight classes, the North Central College wrestling team won three of its four matches in the Olivet College Comet Duals on Saturday, improving to 4-3 in dual competition this season.

The 11th-ranked Cardinals defeated Trine University (Ind.), 28-16, in the day's opening match before a 33-11 loss to 23rd-ranked Olivet. North Central bounced back to knock off Manchester College (Ind.), 38-16, before closing the day with a 22-20 victory over Heidelberg University (Ohio).

North Central won the first four weight classes to take the early lead against Trine, as Sean Tomac won by pin at 125 pounds, Blake Olson claimed a win by decision at 149, and Nathan Fitzenreider and Andrew Zobac won by forfeit at 133 and 149 pounds, respectively. Jason Bonham also won by decision at 174 and Dylan Mahler picked up a major-decision win at 197.

The Cardinals won the first three weight classes against Olivet as well, but the Comets responded by rolling through the final seven weight classes unbeaten. Tomac (125) and Brian Dyer (141) each won by decision, while Fitzenreider recorded his sixth pin of the season with just two seconds left in his match at 133.

Brayan Gonzalez got North Central started against Manchester with a 41-second pin at 125, and Fitzenreider claimed another forfeit before Zobac won by pin as well at 141. Eric Oyster won by major decision at 157, Joby Bodi picked up a pin at 165, Bonham won by decision at 174 and Mahler collected a major-decision victory at 197.

Tomac came back to win his third match of the day at 125 against Heidelberg, while Fitzenreider won by major decision at 133 and Dyer won by decision at 141. Oyster won again by major decision at 157 and Bodi scored a technical fall at 165 before Bonham sealed the Cardinals' win with a victory by decision at 174.

The Cardinals are off until Saturday, Dec. 3, when they travel to York College (Pa.) for the New Standard Corporation Invitational.
