MONMOUTH, Ill. (Nov. 23, 2011)-- An Emily Collins jumper with 26 seconds remaining helped the North Central College women's basketball team escape Glennie Gymnasium on Wednesday night with a 47-46 victory over host Monmouth College.

Neither team led by more than five points in the contest that featured 14 lead changes and eight ties. The Cardinals (2-2) picked up the road win after holding the host Fighting Scots (1-2) to without a field goal the final 3 minutes and 26 seconds of play while a Emily Collins jumper in the paint with 26 seconds remaining provided the decisive score.

North Central enjoyed a three-point 22-19 lead at the halftime break.

Lauren Hernandez paced the Cardinals with 13 points while Helen Muleya and Jenny Swanson each added seven points apiece. Collins book ended each half with a bucket, ending the night with six points and a team-high 10 rebounds while Emily Murphy led the Cardinals with four steals.

Marla Willard posted a double-double to lead the Scots, finishing with 10 points and 12 boards while Zipporah Williams had nine points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, taking on Wartburg College at 5 p.m. in La Crosse, Wis. in the opening round of the Holiday Inn Express Thanksgiving Classic.
