Mar. 24, 2026 - The North Central College women's basketball pairing of Jocelyn Trotter and Ameli Sanchez have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team. It marks Trotter's second consecutive selection and the first of Sanchez's career. 

To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be at least sophomores with a 3.50 or higher grade point average. Transfers are also immediately eligible if they meet the previous criteria. Athletically, nominees must compete in 90 percent of games played or start in at least 66 percent of games played. 

During the 2025-2026, Trotter, who also earned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) first-team honors for the first time in her career, started all 26 contests. Trotter averaged 11.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while recording 66 steals, an average of 2.6 per game, which ranked second in the CCIW. The double major in psychology and marketing posted a season-high 23 points against Millikin University, adding eight rebounds while shooting 50% from the field. 

The sophomore from Palos Park, Ill., Sanchez earned her first Academic All-District honor after averaging 10.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Her top performance came against Illinois College, when she scored 28 points and tied the program's single-game record with seven 3-pointers.

Trotter and Sanchez are among five North Central women's basketball players to earn Academic All-District recognition. Trotter is the second player in program history to receive the honor multiple times, while she advances to the CSC Academic All-America ballot that is announced on Apr. 15. 

The Cardinals finished the season 14-12 overall and 8-8 in CCIW play, advancing to the first round of the CCIW tournament.
