Complete All-CCIW Team
Nov. 7, 2011-- North Central College men's soccer student-athletes
Jake Muszczynski,
Paul Box and
Michael Curtis have been honored by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin on Monday with selections to the 2011 all-conference team.
Muszczynski earns a spot on the First Team while Box and Curtis both earn selections to the Second Team. 2011 marks the first time since the 1997 season that the Cardinals have had three All-CCIW selections.
Muszczynski headlines the Cardinal honorees, earning a place on the First Team as a forward. The sophomore led the team in goals (eight) and points (18) in 2011 with three game-winning goals. Five of his eight goals came during the conference slate, including a first half hat-trick on Oct. 1 against Millikin University.
Box captures his second straight All-CCIW honor, earning a spot on the Second Team as a defender. The senior anchored a stout defense that pitched eight shutouts during the season while proving to be a threat on offense as well with four goals and two assists on the year. Box's defensive prowess helped the Cardinals go 383 minutes without conceding a goal during the non-conference season and later mounted a 402 minute scoreless stretch spanning a portion of the CCIW season.
Curtis earns his first All-CCIW honor, earning a spot on the Second Team as a midfielder. The senior finished the season with two goals, including the game-winner on Sept 7 against Rockford College. In addition to his offensive skills, Curtis was instrumental in bolstering the Cardinals' backline that tallied eight clean sheets.
North Central finished its 2011 campaign with a 10-5-2 overall record and a 2-3-2 mark within the conference, posting its first winning season since 1999.
