AURORA, Ill. (Dec. 17, 2011)-- The North Central College women's basketball team encountered little resistance on Saturday inside Thornton Gymnasium, draining a season-high 12 three-pointers to throttle host Aurora University, 78-39, as four Cardinals ended the afternoon in double figures.

The Cardinals (6-4) never trailed in the contest, outscoring the host Spartans (2-9) by a 26-11 margin over the final 10 minutes of the opening half, enjoying a 39-22 lead at the halftime break.

North Central continued to apply the heat in the second half, mounting an 18-3 run to turn a 28-point cushion into a game-high 43-point buffer with just under three minutes to go.

Jenny Swanson paced the Cardinals, draining four three-pointer and ending the day with 16 points. Emily Murphy and Kelsey Cooling each chipped in 14 points apiece while Callie Rezin added 11. Emily Collins led the team with 10 rebounds while Helen Muleya dished out eight assists.

Megan Kohrt was the lone Spartan in double figures, ending the game with 11 points.

North Central shot 50 percent (27-for-54) from the field and 60 percent (12-for-20) from beyond the arc while holding Aurora to shooting just 21 percent (12-for-58) from the floor and 14 percent (two-for-14) from three-point range.

The Cardinals, winners of four of their last five, close out their non-conference slate on Friday, December 30, hosting Benedictine University at 7:30 p.m.
