FOREST GROVE, Ore. (Mar. 22, 2011) -
After posting two straight wins to open the season, the North Central College women's lacrosse team took its first loss of 2011 on Tuesday, losing by a 23-5 count at Pacific University.

The Cardinals played well early and owned a 3-2 advantage following a goal by Caroline Gully with 18:19 left in the first period. Pacific (6-1), however, held North Central scoreless for the next 15 minutes, durich which time the Boxers scored 11 straight times to take a commanding 13-3 lead. The hosts went into halftime with a 15-4 advantage and put the contest away by scoring the first five goals of the second period.

North Central (2-1) got three goals from Gully and two from Danielle Fiala. Fiala also recorded an assist, as did Natalie Vivacqua. Sarah Hon saved nine shots on goal.

The Cardinals close out their trip to the Pacific Northwest on Thursday, taking on the University of Puget Sound (Wash.) at 6 p.m. Pacific time.
