Apr. 13, 2011 - The North Central College women's lacrosse team took another step toward securing a berth in the inaugural Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament on Wednesday, defeating MWLC rival Concordia University (Wis.), 15-5, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
In winning their first-ever meeting with the Falcons, the Cardinals (5-5, 3-3 MWLC) established a new school record for single-season victories and improved to 3-2 in home games this season.
North Central pulled ahead to a 5-1 lead in the first 10 minutes of play, as Jacqui Morgan and Mallory Bahr each scored twice. The Cardinals held a 8-2 advantage before Concordia (0-9, 0-5) scored twice in the final minutes of the first half to go into the break with North Central on top by a 9-4 count.
The Cardinals were able to limit Concordia to just one goal in the second half, scoring four straight times early in the period to pull away.
Bahr led North Central with four goals, while Danielle Fiala and Amy Frazzini each scored three times. Sarah Hon saved six shots on goal. Sam Meuwissen scored four of Concordia's five goals.
The Cardinals travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday to take on the Indiana Institute of Technology.
