FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Apr. 16, 2011) -
A tooth-and-nail battle went right down to the wire on Saturday for the North Central College women's lacrosse team, as the Cardinals saw an early lead dissipate and lost a 18-17 decision to the Indiana Institute of Technology.

The Cardinals owned a 7-1 lead early in the contest, but fell victim to a 9-1 surge midway through the contest and yielded the game-winner with less than a minute remaining to take the loss after two straight wins.

North Central's Amy Frazzini scored the game's first two goals, leading the Cardinals to a commanding early advantage. The visitors remained in control until 4:18 remained in the first period, when Indiana Tech (13-4) scored four straight goals to narrow the gap to 11-10 at halftime.

The Warriors kept their momentum going as the second half began, scoring three more times to take the lead, 13-11. Indiana Tech extended its lead to 15-12 before the Cardinals (5-6) charged back with three straight scores, two of which came from Caroline Gully, to tie the score at 15-15 with 14:26 to play.

Indiana Tech's Kendall Guthrie scored to give her team a brief 16-15 lead, but Natalie Vivacqua countered with a goal of her own with 8:41 left. The Warriors got another goal from Chelsea Olson with 7:08 to play, but Jacqui Morgan tied the game once again with a goal with 5:49 on the clock.

The Warriors broke the tie with just 50 seconds remaining in the second period, as Clea Endres scored an unassisted goal to help lead Indiana Tech to the win.

Guthrie led all scorers with seven goals. Morgan scored a team-high six goals for North Central, while Gully finished with four and Frazzini scored three. Sarah Hon saved 10 shots on goal.

The Cardinals host Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference foe Fontbonne University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
