Official CCIW Release

May 3, 2011 -
North Central College baseball player Nate Arenson has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week for Apr. 25-May 1.

Arenson earned his first Pitcher of the Week distinction of this season on the strength of his performance in the Cardinals' 5-1 victory over Augustana College on Saturday. Arenson pitched all nine innings to record his third complete game of the year, allowing no earned runs and scattering just three hits. Arenson allowed just one hit after the fourth inning and improved his overall record to 4-1 on the season.

The victory was the 13th of Arenson's career, moving him into a tie with Doug McBain (1983-86), Mike Willner (1992-95), and Matt Krok '08 for 10th place on North Central's all-time list.

Arenson is the second North Central pitcher to receive one of the CCIW's weekly awards this season. Teammate Jon Rashid was accorded the same honor on Mar. 15.

The Cardinals (19-9, 13-5 CCIW) are tied with Carthage College at the top of the CCIW standings heading into their final conference series of the regular season against Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday and Sunday.
