BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (May 7, 2011) -
The North Central College baseball team's final College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin double header of the season resulted in its first two shutout losses of the season on Saturday, as the Cardinals lost twice to the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans at Jack Horenberger Field.

North Central was blanked, 15-0, in the opener before falling victim to a no-hitter and losing, 8-0, in the nightcap.

Saturday's first game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, when the Titans (24-13, 14-6 CCIW) put their stamp on the contest with 11 runs, pounding out nine hits and sending 16 hitters to the plate before the three outs were recorded.

The Cardinals (20-13, 13-7) threatened to break up the shutout in the seventh, but left the bases loaded. Matt Burke went 2 for 3 in the game with a stolen base, becoming the sixth North Central player to swipe at least 20 bases in a single season.

IWU pitcher Joe Sweeney denied the Cardinals any chance at a rally in the second game, allowing North Central's batters just three walks during the entire nine-inning affair.

North Central hosts the finale of its series against the Titans on Sunday at Zimmerman Stadium, beginning at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will conduct their annual Senior Day festivities prior to the first pitch.
