Cardinals Fall to Gorloks, 1-0

The North Central College women's soccer team was defeated by visiting Webster University on Friday night, 1-0, under the lights at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Cardinals (3-3) held the Gorloks (6-2-1) to just one shot on goal in the opening half taking a 0-0 tie into halftime.  In the 76th minute Alexandra Nikolaus was able to take advantage of a North Central foul committed inside the box by knocking home the penalty kick to give the Gorloks the deciding 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals outshot the Gorloks by a margin of 11-5, but were unsuccessful on a penalty shot of their own in the 35th minute.  

Webster goalkeeper Brittany Senator got the win for the Gorloks, compiling five saves throughout the contest while North Central goalkeeper Halley Robertson saved two shots for the Cardinals in her first start of the season.

The North Central Cardinals are back in action Saturday as they face Wisconsin Lutheran College at 1 p.m. at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
