KENOSHA, Wis. (Jan. 28, 2012)-- Despite outscoring the hosts in the second half of play, the North Central College women's basketball team was unable to overcome its sluggish start, falling 68-43 to Carthage College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game inside Tarble Arena.
The host Lady Reds (15-4, 6-2) scored the game's opening four points before
Emily Collins drained a three-pointer with 17:14 remaining. Carthage would respond by scoring the next 21 points before taking a 42-14 edge into the halftime break.
North Central (6-13, 0-8 CCIW) battled hard in the second 20 minutes of action, outscoring Carthage by a 29-26 margin.
Lauren Hernandez came off the bench and led the Cardinals with 11 points while
Helen Muleya added eight.
Cailee Corcoran paced the home side with 19 points while Diana Jacklin chipped in 14.
North Central returns to the floor on Wednesday, making the short trip to face Elmhurst College. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
