Jan. 31, 2012-- North Central College senior Andrew Zobac was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 23-30. 

Zobac, currently ranked fifth nationally, claimed the 141 pound individual title this past weekend at the Wheaton College Pete Willson Invitational, scoring bonus points in each of his five matches.  He opened the tournament on Friday with wins by technical fall over Augustana College's Greg Gogonas and Alma College's Frank Stepnowski before ending the evening by pinning Wayne Black of the College of Mount St. Joseph early in the second period. Once action resumed on Saturday, Zobac (26-5) defeated Messiah College's Victor Bracey by major decision, 19-9, to advance to the championship match, where he defeated Indianapolis' Justin Keiffer by major decision, 18-7. The victory over Keiffer was Zobac's 100th collegiate win.

So far this season, Zobac has posted an overall record of 26-5 and the senior needs only five more victories to move into the top ten in career victories in program history.

The Cardinals host the University of Chicago in a dual meet on Friday, Feb. 3, with the opening match slated for 7 pm.
