Oct. 10, 2012 – The North Central College women's soccer team was shutout at the hands of Wheaton College in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin match-up at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Wednesday night.
Alexa Sharkey got the visiting Thunder (12-2-1, 3-0-0 CCIW) on the board in the 12
th minute of the first half, slipping one past Cardinal (5-7-1, 1-2-0 CCIW) keeper
Jacqueline Clore, taking an early 1-0 lead.
The Wheaton offense would strike again just under five minutes later as Leah DeMoss found the back of the net, her CCIW leading 15
th goal of the season while Mary Petitt put home her first goal of the season in the 39
th minute off an assist from Anna Seabolt, giving the Thunder a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Wheaton's Ally Witt added two second half goals in the 55
th and 68
th minute, respectively, giving the Thunder the decisive 5-0 victory.
Hilary Barreto recorded three saves for Wheaton in the shutout effort while the Thunder held a 20-6 shot advantage over the Cardinals.
North Central returns to the turf on Saturday, Oct. 13 playing host to Carthage College in a CCIW contest inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
