Oct. 28, 2012 – For the first time in program history the North Central College women's soccer team earned a spot in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament after tying North Park University, 0-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Box Score
With the Cardinals needing a win or a tie to secure a spot in the tournament, the North Central defense frustrated the visiting Vikings all afternoon. North Park only registered eight total shots and forced North Central goalie
Jacqueline Clore to make only two saves in the shutout.
The Cardinals were unable to capitalize on the man advantage they held through the first overtime and midway through the second after Anika Johnson picked up a red card just 17 seconds before the end of regulation. However, North Central earned a red card with just over five minutes remaining in the contest to level the playing field.
Hannah Magiera and
Victoria Dunn led the way for the Cardinal offense with three shots each.
The Cardinals (6-8-3, 2-3-2) hit the road to face top-seeded Augustana College in the first round of the CCIW tournament on Halloween night at 7 p.m.
