CHICAGO, Ill. (Nov. 12, 2012) – The North Central College swimming and diving teams opened the 2012-13 season with a dual meet Friday night at Illinois Institute of Technology. The women's team sailed to a, 107-41, victory, while the men dropped the dual 149-51.

The women's 200-yard medley relay team of
Lauren Gorski,
Kelsey Truedson,
Loreli Patschke, and
Carolyn Masterton got the season off to a great start by winning the first event of the season in 2:06.72.
Patschke led the way for the Cardinal women as she won the 50-yard freestyle (26.36) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.42). Patschke also teamed up with
Cristina Francisco,
Melanie Mara, and Roxxi Martin to win the 200-yard freestyle relay (2:05.13).
Truedson also picked up big points for the Cardinals after touching the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.91). She also picked up second place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.90) and the 400-yard individual medley (5:07.10).
Francisco picked up another individual victory in the 500-yard freestyle (6:18.72).
Neil Hummer was the leader for the Cardinal men, picking up victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:37.57) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.19). Hummer also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.17).
Drew Olehy was the only other individual winner for the Cardinals as he won one meter diving with a score of 189.30.
The Cardinals return to the pool this weekend when they head for the two-day University of Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic beginning Friday night at 6 p.m.
