Fitzenreider Claims CCIW Wrestler of the Week Honor

Dec. 11, 2012 – North Central College student-athlete Nathan Fitzenreider was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) wrestler of the week, for the week of Dec. 3-9.

Fitzenreider, currently ranked first nationally in his weight class, claimed the individual title at 141 pounds at the 49th Annual North Central College Invitational.  After an opening round bye, Fitzenreider made easy work of the College of Mount St. Joseph's Luis Godines, recording a first round pin at the 2:44 mark before downing Garrett Whitehead of UW-Whitewater by major decision, 11-1. 
 
In the semi-finals, Fitzenreider defeated Augustana's Hector Ruiz by decision, 5-0, before recording an early escape and hanging on for the 1-0 decision in the championship match over UW-Whitewater's Jake Fredericksen, ranked seventh at 141.

So far this season, Fitzenreider has posted an overall record of 13-1 and currently ranks fourth on the program's all-time win's list (134), while ranking fifth in career pins (33).

The Cardinals are back on the mat on Dec. 16, travelling to Ft. Myers, Fla. for the Florida Gulf Coast Duals hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin.  Opening matches are slated to begin at 9 a.m. (ET).
