—Participating in the Florida Gulf Coast Duals hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin, the North Central College wrestling squad was outdone in each of its four matches on Sunday.
 
The Cardinals opened the day with a 33-7 loss to No. 15 Central College (Iowa), before falling to Heidelberg University (Ohio), 30-7.  North Central was then defeated at the hands of the State University of New York Oneonta, 23-20, while Alma College (Mich.) stung the Cardinals in the nightcap 29-15.
 
Nathan Fitzenreider claimed one of the Cardinals two wins against Central, downing T.J. Peretti by major decision at 141 pounds, 15-4, while Steven Burling was victorious at 174 pounds over Sam Apland by decision, 9-3.
 
Against Heidelberg, Fitzenreider won a close decision over Chris Osborne at 141, 2-0, before Casey Greenberg scored a 10-2 major decision win over Matt Shurina at 197.
 
The Cardinals closest dual came against SUNY Oneonta as Nick Santos opened with a 12-3 major decision victory over Alex Pugh at 125 pounds, while Fitzenreider made easy work of Joseph Gates at 141 by major decision, 14-4.  At 149 Nathan Segal defeated Noah Valastro by decision, 6-3, while Greenberg pinned Jake Smith in 4:42 at 197 and Dylan Mahler won by decision over Jacob Freudenberg, 10-4, at 285 pounds.
 
Santos started the Cardinals off with a 4-2 victory over Alma's Collin Lesko, while Fitzenreider stuck Travis Martin at the 1:43 mark in the opening period, going 4-0 on the afternoon.  At 149 Segal claimed his second victory of the day, pinning Caleb Huff in 2:40, but Alma would go on to win the next six matches to take the match.
 
North Central returns to action on Dec. 29-30, travelling to Evanston, Ill. for the Midlands Championships hosted by Northwestern University.
