MWLC Press Release

Feb. 1, 2012 -
The North Central College women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish fourth in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference this season, according to the annual preseason poll of the MWLC's eight head coaches. The MWLC released the results of its poll on Wednesday.

The Cardinals went 7-7 and posted a 4-3 record in MWLC play to finish fourth in the conference in 2011, which was the MWLC's first. North Central qualified for the inaugural MWLC Tournament, bowing out in the semifinals.

Adrian College (Mich.), which won the inaugural MWLC regular-season and tournament championships a year ago, received the top spot in the poll with 46 points and five first-place votes. Carthage College (Wis.) was second with 38 points and one first-place vote, followed by Trine University (Ind.) with 37 points and two-first place votes, and North Central, which tallied 34 points.

Fontbonne University (Mo.) is fifth in this year's poll with 25 points, followed by Albion College (Mich.) with 16 and Concordia University (Wis.) and the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio), which both received 14 points.

North Central, which returns 11 of its 12 starters from last season's team, opens the 2012 campaign Friday, Mar. 9, hosting Kenyon College (Ohio) at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
