Mar. 13, 2012 - North Central College baseball player Jon Rashid has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 5-11.

Rashid became the first Cardinal to earn one of the CCIW's weekly honors this season after earning the win in a 11-0 victory over Buena Vista University (Iowa) on Saturday. Rashid drew the start and pitched eight shutout innings, scattering just three hits and one walk while striking out six. After allowing a single in the first inning, Rashid did not allow another hit until the eighth.

The win was the first of the season for Rashid, who went 5-1 last season to share the team lead in victories.

The Cardinals (4-2) travel to North Carolina for their annual Spring Break trip this weekend. North Central will play a three-game series at North Carolina Wesleyan College on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, followed by single games at Methodist University on Tuesday and Greensboro College on Wednesday.
