KENOSHA, Wis. (Apr. 11, 2012) - Falling victim to a pair of extended scoring runs, the North Central College women's lacrosse team lost for the first time this season in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play on Wednesday, losing by a 14-7 count at Carthage College.
After scoring the game's first goal, the Cardinals (3-7, 1-1 MWLC) were held scoreless until just 6:12 remained in the first half, during which time Carthage scored five times to take control of the contest. North Central did rally to narrow the gap to 6-4 by halftime, as Alison Musur and Adelaide Dieckmeyer each scored in the final 30 seconds of the period.
The Lady Reds (7-3, 2-0) put the contest out of reach by scoring the first six goals of the second half, keeping North Central out of the net until just 6:29 remained in the game.
Danielle Fiala was the Cardinals' top scorer with three goals, while Caroline Gully collected three draw controls and goalkeeper Sarah Hon tied a single-game school record with 15 saves.
North Central hosts MWLC rival Trine University (2-3, 2-1) on Saturday, with action at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium scheduled to get under way at 1 p.m.
