ELMHURST, Ill. (April 15, 2012)—The North Central College baseball team fell victim to Elmhurst College at Butterfield Park, 11-3 on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Bluejays (15-10, 7-5 CCIW) jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, scoring four runs on four hits in each of the first two innings, while taking advantage of four North Central errors. 
 
Zach Tsiodras singled home the Bluejays first run of the game before Jake Bronkema's sacrifice fly made the score 2-0.  Luke Collins then doubled home a pair of runs giving Elmhurst the early 4-0 lead.
 
The Bluejay bats would come alive again in the bottom of the second inning, plating four runs on four hits and three Cardinal (15-10, 5-5 CCIW) errors to take an 8-0 lead.
 
North Central got on the board in the top of the fourth inning scoring two runs on RBI singles by Luke Waldier and Sam Carius to narrow the Bluejay margin 9-2.
 
Elmhurst would add an insurance run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, and hold off the Cardinals for the 11-3 victory.
 
Steve Hlavac and Zac Pacanowski led all North Central batters going 2 for 3 from the plate.
 
North Central plays host to non-conference rival University of Chicago on Wednesday, April 18 with first pitch slated for 3 pm.
