ST. LOUIS (Apr. 23, 2012) -
The North Central College women's lacrosse team clinched its second straight berth in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Tournament on Saturday, matching its highest single-game scoring output of the season in a 19-3 victory at MWLC rival Fontbonne University.

The Cardinals (6-7, 4-1 MWLC) were paced by a six-goal effort from Danielle Fiala, who established a pair of new records for the young program. Fiala set a single-season school record with 45 goals, and her 103 career goals are a new record as well. Fiala is the first player in North Central history to score at least 100 career goals.

After allowing the game's first goal, North Central bounced back and took the lead after Jacqui Morgan and Adelaide Dieckmeyer each scored in a 50-second span. Fiala scored the game's next three goals to provide the visitors with some breathing room, and the Cardinals continued to extend their advantage throughout the first period as Morgan and Caroline Gully each scored in the final 25 seconds. North Central carried a 10-3 advantage into halftime.

The Cardinals dominated the battle of possession throughout the final 30 minutes, holding Fontbonne (1-11, 1-6 MWLC) scoreless while keeping the Griffins from attempting a single shot on goal.

Morgan added five goals for the Cardinals, while Dieckmeyer put up three goals and two assists. Gully collected a game-high seven draw controls, Leea LoPresti caused three turnovers and Shannon Prince recorded four ground-ball pickups.

North Central hosts Augustana College (14-3) in a non-conference game on Wednesday evening at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with Senior Night festivities to be conducted prior to game time.
