What is the North Central College Athletic Mentorship Program (AMP)?
North Central College Athletics prides itself on ensuring the success of its student-athletes both in the classroom and in their respective sports. AMP is an initiative in which student-athletes serve as role models for their peers. The mentor program provides first year Cardinal student-athletes with valuable assets they can utilize in everyday life including time-management, social skills, and organizational skills.

What are the goals of AMP?
AMP has three central goals that guide the program. These goals include:
                1) Maximizing first year student-athletes’ academic and personal growth
                2) Supporting the first year student-athletes as they pursue their academic goals leading towards graduation
                3) Improving and impacting the first year student-athletes' post-college life

How does AMP work? What is the structure?

Each first year student-athlete will be given an upper-class student-athlete mentor. Each week during the fall term, the student-athlete will discuss current academic, athletic, and general life issues with his/her mentor. There will be different "homework assignments" on the part of the mentees for each week, such as meeting with professors, filling out the academic planner, etc. Each meeting should last anywhere between 30 minutes and one hour. For the winter term, mentors will meet with the student-athletes three time; during the spring term, the meetings are on an as-needed basis.
