ADRIAN, Mich. (May 4, 2012) - The 2012 season came to an end for the North Central College women's lacrosse team on Friday, as the Cardinals fell behind early and lost, 14-9, to Carthage College in the semifinals of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament at Adrian College's Performance Stadium.
The Cardinals (7-10) yielded the first three goals of the contest and dropping back by a 7-2 count late in the first half, succumbing to the Lady Reds for the second time this season.
Carthage (13-4) scored three times in the first six minutes of play, two of which came from Sydney Whitaker, before the Cardinals bounced back with a pair of goals from
Leea LoPresti. The Lady Reds held North Central scoreless for the next nine minutes, scoring four straight times, to take control for good.
Whitaker finished with a game-high four goals, while Hannah Sopeth collected six draw controls. LoPresti and
Jacqui Morgan paced North Central with three goals each, and Morgan also picked up a game-high four ground balls.
Caroline Gully recorded four ground balls and
Danielle Fiala grabbed three.
