Sept. 2, 2012— In its second double overtime game in as many contests, the North Central College women's soccer team was unable to hold off non-conference opponent Kalamazoo College, falling 1-0 inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium Sunday afternoon.

After 109:00 of scoreless play, Kalamazoo took advantage of a costly North Central foul with under a minute left in the contest.  After the free kick, the Hornets Maya Smolcic found the back of the net off an assist from C.J. McCarthy with 30 seconds remaining in the contest, giving the Hornets (1-1-0) the 1-0 victory.

The Cardinals (0-1-1) were outshot by a 16-8 margin on the afternoon.  Hope Stayer led all players with four shots.  

Hornet goalkeeper Lucy Mailing stopped six shots in her first victory of the season while Jacqueline Clore recorded four saves in the loss for the Cardinals.

North Central is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 8 in a non-conference match-up with Concordia University (Wis.).  Kick-off is slated for 2:30 p.m.
